STAFF AND STUDENTS: The Tournament of Talent is coming! The Tournament of Talent is a talent show featuring all Modesto City Schools high school students. The top two winners from each school's Talent Show compete for CASH prizes in May at Downey High School. Elliott's Talent Show Audition will be held Friday, April 6, in Room 3a at 12:45. If you can sing, rap, dance, play a musical instrument, do comedy or a combination of any of those, sign up in the Counseling Office and try out to see if you can represent Elliott at the Tournament of Talent in May. STUDENTS: California Beauty College is seeking current Modesto City Schools’ Juniors interested in Cosmetology as a career. California Beauty College will be testing prospective Modesto City Schools’ students on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10a.m. Interested current Juniors need to arrive at California Beauty College, 1115 15th Street, Modesto, starting at 9:30 a.m. and MUST bring their school ID. Students will be testing on color perception, line perception, and figure perception along with, perhaps the most weighted part of the test, students need to write an essay as to WHY they want to be a cosmetologist and identify in their essay what they know about the industry (minimum of 100 words). STUDENTS: ASVAB - Career Exploration

On Thursday, March 15th students have the opportunity to participate in the ASVAB Career Exploration Program. Whether you are thinking about going to college, trade school, joining the military or entering the workforce, now is an exciting time to think about your career options! Space is limited. STUDENTS: The Prom is coming… Will you be ready?

The theme for our prom this year is “La Vie á Paris” or for those who don’t speak French, “Life in Paris.” You will dance the night away under twinkling lights and hanging chandeliers and tables decorated with mini Eiffel Towers. From a far you will see a large erected lighted Eiffel Tower and a small Café scene with small tables and street lights. Your 2018 prom’s theme and design was created by your fellow students from the Prom Committee.

Summer is just around the corner and employers will be looking to hire seasonal employees. I am available to help with job seeking strategies and resumes. Luck favors the prepared. Stop by the counseling office and fill out a blue sheet to see Mrs. O'Brien in room 34.

STUDENTS: ROP Cosmetology Testing North Adrian’s College of Beauty, 2018-19

Requirements for Testing: Applicants must have senior status in a Modesto City School District high school during the 2018-19 school year. Students must bring a pen and a picture ID (preferably their school ID card). Wednesday, March 14, 2018. The doors will open at 3:00 p.m. and close at 6:45 p.m. Students can check in for testing any time between these hours. North Adrian’s College of Beauty, 124 Floyd, Modesto. ONLY THE FIRST FIFTY (50) APPLICANTS MEETING ALL THE REQUIREMENTS (STATED ABOVE) WILL BE TESTED AT NORTH ADRIAN’S COLLEGE OF BEAUTY. NO EXCEPTIONS.
