
Our partners at Stanford University REACH lab are continuing to conduct research for their SPEAK UP Study. As you will recall, the study is interested in hearing young people’s perception on the criminalization, legalization, and racialization of cannabis use. Stanford is looking for youth between the ages of 13 to 20 in the Bay Area and Central Valley to participate in their focus groups, dates listed below. The focus group meetings will take place on Zoom, and youth who participate will receive a $25 gift card.
The requirements for the focus groups are the following:
Ages 13 to 20 (minors need parental consent and consents are available in Spanish and English; young adults and minors would be in separate groups)
BIPOC youth (especially Black, Latin@, indigenous youth)
Any gender (especially young men)
Any cannabis use experience from no use to current use (especially some use)
Live in the San Francisco Bay Area or the Central Valley
English or Spanish speaking youth
Focus group times - all Pacific:
Friday February 9: 1:30-3:00 pm; 4:00-5:30 pm
Saturday, February 10: 1:00-3:00 pm; 4:00-5:30 pm
Monday, February 12: 4:00-5:30 pm
Monday, February 26: 4:00-5:30 pm

Open House is soon! February 1, 2024 @ 5:30pm
The purpose of Open House is to attract prospective students, familiarize current students, parents and community members with the faculty, curriculum, clubs, programs, and facilities. It allows new and current students and their parents to become familiar with and meet others, as well as to open informal communication channels between school staff, students, and their parents. There will be a raffle for fun items, please bring your family and friends to see what Elliott is all about!

My name is Hope Lyons, and I am excited for my new role as a Parent Ambassador. I enjoy planning events, baking, and road trips with my family.
I am currently working for Modesto City Schools as a paraprofessional in Special Education with the Resource department. I have worked for MCS for over twelve years. I was also a PHAST (Protecting Health and Slamming Tobacco) club mentor for ten years. It is important for our young scholars to have mentors in their lives that they can look up to. I am very passionate about helping others, and excited to share that I will be growing with Modesto City Schools as a new Parent Ambassador.
I am ready to help parents/guardians in providing information, guidance and resources related to your child’s education and well-being.

Weightlifting We are excited to add an 8th period weightlifting class starting 9/11. Please see your counselor if you are interested in signing up. We have busses after 8th period that will go to Modesto High and Hanshaw. This is a great way to get some exercise and earn some additional credits.
